Music Place Supports

At Lifeshare, Manchester

Lifeshare is a voluntary organisation established to meet the needs of the homeless and disadvantaged in Manchester and Salford. The first point of contact is with people on the streets, offering practical assistance, support and information. From this point continued assistance is offered to enable people to secure suitable accommodation, to be supported to maintain their tenancies and helped to access initiatives to carry their lives forward.

Lifeshare's Christmas Project runs an open house for 6 days to support the homeless and vulnerable who are in particular need over the Christmas period. They provide three hot meals a day, clothing, bedding, toiletries, a doctor, podiatrist and dentist in addition to company and entertainment throughout the day.

Kirk McElhinney performed at the Christmas Project 2011 -

'Music is a great force of positivity and can even put smiles on the faces of those living the harshest of lives. It was a great and humbling experience being a part of the process at Lifeshare Christmas week. They all got up and rocked out! The volunteers that help run this organisation were really grateful and asked us to come back next year, which I would be more than happy to do. Thank you to all the Music Place students who donated.'
