Thol began playing the violin and piano at Wynstones Steiner school for 15 years before going on to study violin at the RNCM where he completed an honours degree. In addition to the violin and piano, Thol has always been interested in conducting and shadowed Martyn Brabbins for two weeks as part of a work experience placement.
Since graduating in 2009, Thol has worked as a freelance teacher and performer, playing all over the country and working at a number of music services and schools. He enjoys the fact that every pupil is different and the importance of finding a style of music and teaching to suit the individual.
For the last two years, Thol has been Music Director at Lancaster Community Music Centre where the conducts the string and symphony orchestras and oversees the running of the centre, which caters for all ages and abilities across a wide range of ensembles.
Thol is also a member of the Manchester band Tawse who have recently released their first EP, heard on BBC Radio Manchester.
