We’re really proud that, throughout lockdown, The Music Place was still able to run our weekly choir and Vibrant Voices sessions. By getting creative with video sing-alongs and live zoom sessions, Clare, Alison, Richard and Lucy (the dream team) kept our choirs going strong and we couldn’t be more grateful!

There’s no denying, however, that it’s nice to be back to a non-virtual setting. We thought we’d share with you the many ways we’ve corona-proofed the choir, so we can once again enjoy singing together safely and securely.

1) Being wiser, and wearing a visor

We’re all aware of the importance of wearing masks to limit the spread of covid-19 so we’ve purchased special visors for every member of our choir! Normal masks are welcome too!

2) There’s no stance like di-stance

Choir members are seated 2 metres apart to maintain social distancing. Who doesn’t love a bit of personal space?

3) Three is the magic number

We’ve split our choir into three smaller groups to allow for better social distancing- same choir, same material, different start time for each group. You know what they say…if it’s worth doing once, it’s worth doing three times.

4) Swapping the small room for the ballroom

None of our social distancing measures would be possible without The Bowdon Rooms, who have kindly allowed us to use their ballroom for our choir sessions. We love the upstairs lounge but the ballroom is way more spacious AND we don’t have to walk up the stairs (yey.)

5) Sugary sacrifice

Sadly, we’ve had to say goodbye to our dear friend…the tea and biscuit break. No one can be expected to distance whilst fighting for the last bourbon so, for now, we’ll have to do without. With a global pandemic must come great sacrifice.

6) When you can’t be in the room, you can be in the zoom

Despite our new protective measures, we’re very aware that some are still unable to join us in person. That’s why we’re still running our online choir sessions, streamed live through zoom!

So there you go – we’re ready and we’re kitted out. Bring it on 2020!

Have a lovely week everyone!
