Summer is approaching and we know what you’re all thinking… what happens if it’s jazzless!? But never fear, Jazz Summer School 2019 is here!

The Jazz Summer course runs from Sunday 11th to Wednesday 14th August 2019 at The Cinnamon Club, and is one of the highlights of our annual calendar. Led by world class jazz musicians (this year including special guest tutors Andrew Bain and Steve Watts), the course focuses on developing your ensemble abilities, learning about core rhythm, rhythm in melody, harmony and improvisation, and harnessing your innate pulse to inform your playing.  So if you fancy gaining some valuable ensemble experience and meeting some like-minded jazzers, then this may be for you! But don’t just take our word for it- Jazz Summer Course Directors, Mike Walker, Iain Dixon and Les Chisnall had this to say (and you should listen to them, they’re quite good we hear):-

“Deepening our understanding of the simple things improves our general musicianship, which provides a stronger, more centred base. From here we can enjoy and be part of a more satisfying musical experience. Playing simple things, really well, is a challenge – we practise so things become simple – when they become simple they become most useful – complexity lives within simplicity and progress can be achieved through a deeper understanding of fundamentals.”

So get in touch if you fancy a light smattering of jazz with your summer, it’s looking like it’s going to be a good one!

Have a lovely week everyone!
