Last night, former Music Place bass teacher, Neil Fairclough, took to the stage at the 91st Academy Awards (cue internal squeals) to open the ceremony with Queen and Adam Lambert. Just a run of the mill Sunday eh?

Since first meeting Brian May as a member of the house band on Terry Wogan’s Sunday morning Radio 2 show, Neil has toured with Queen all over the world including North and South America, Europe, Japan and Australia. Since 2011, he’s done everything from playing a sold-out Madison Square Garden, performing at the MTV European music awards, and now he’s opened the Oscars!

We’d like to wish Neil our most heart felt congratulations; we are so proud of you!

Don’t give up on your musical dreams people! Get really good at what you do and one day, it might be you! (ooh, a rhyme). As Walt Disney once said, “if you can dream it, you can do it.”

Check out the performance!

Have a lovely week everyone!
